Simon Fleming recognised for accomplishments in optics and photonics


CUDOS Associate Investigator Professor Simon Fleming of the University of Sydney received Senior Member designation by the Optical Society (OSA) for his accomplishments in optics and photonics.

The OSA Board of Directors announced the 2017 OSA Senior Class at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), among them Professor Simon Fleming. This OSA distinction provides well-established individuals recognition for their experience and professional accomplishments within the field of optics and photonics.

Professor Simon Fleming is a research leader in photonics, with over thirty years’ experience. His research has focused mainly on optical fibre and has spanned all aspects, from materials and fabrication through to devices; and from discovery to applied. Professor Fleming's research track record of over three hundred publications, over twenty patents and numerous grants is complemented by extensive experience in working with industry and in the translation of research into commercial outcomes.
